Yet another pair to drool over

Does anyone have $865.00 to spare?  Why can't we be rich??

Happy Holidays!

Our holidays were delightful!  We spent Christmas eve at Juan's parents house where his father made a feast of shrimp and fish.  Christmas was spent at my family's home.  We watched the kids open presents at my sister's house where she presented Juan and I with this totally awesome ornament!  Everyone died laughing at the resemblance of Ken and Barbie to Juan and I.  This picture does not do the ornament justice.  We hope everyone has a happy and healthy 2009!

I want this cake too!

I love, love, love this cake!  I want these colors.  If anyone knows of an amazing place to get a cake let me know.

I want these shoes

These are what I want to walk down the aisle in!  These are hot!  Why can't I register for shoes?

How we Met

Juan and I met in a uniquely New York way, the subway.  I was having a truly bad day.  Everything that could go wrong was going wrong.  I was trying to get home and not paying attention and I went down the wrong set of stairs.  I think I used some profanity when I realized my mistake and there was this man who saw me and said, "are you trying to go downtown too?", we had both made the same mistake.  We started chatting as we crossed the street to get to the correct side and continued the conversation as we boarded a packed subway car.  I think Juan was scared of being rejected in front of a ton of people so he didn't ask for my number.  Luckily, I wasn't as afraid of rejection.  We were approaching my stop and I reached in my pocket and handed him my card and told him it was very nice talking to him.  He waited 20 days to use my number but when he did we went on a date and the rest is history!

Meet The Parents

Our parents met for the first time on Saturday night.  Everything went well.  We had a lovely dinner at a local restaurant and the wine and conversation flowed freely.  This picture was taken after dinner. I think my Dad was feeling intimidated by the hight of Juan's father so he jokingly hopped up on the couch in order to match his 6'7" frame when this picture was taken.

Sweet Surprises

We have received a plethora of engagement cards.  They were all completely unexpected and very welcome.  I guess I never thought about sending one until we actually received one.  This will now be on my agenda when I hear that someone is engaged.  I didn't know so many people sent them.  They were all filled with the kindest messages and made us feel so good every time we opened the mailbox.  Thanks to everyone who was so thoughtful.

Engagements on Ice

Who doesn't love to watch a sweet proposal?  Brides.com has sponsored this adorable way to get engaged.  They announce that everyone must leave the ice, the guy makes his girl stay on the ice, they start playing "their song", he drops to his knees and pops the question, everyone cheers!

We are engaged!

Juan and I got engaged October 8th in Tulum, Mexico.  We had just checked into our amazing, romantic hut on the beach at Esmeralda K.  I highly recommend staying there for a romantic trip with the one you love.  It is perfect for honeymoons and engagements and because there is no electricity during the day you better love the person you are with.  The staff (David the manager) wasn't aware that we were checking in so the electricity was not on that night.  They fill the rooms with white paper luminaries so that was the only light we had in the room.  After showering for dinner, we were preparing to leave the hut when Juan pushed me into a chair, quite aggressively I might add, dropped to one knee and asked me to be his wife.
